Paolo Canciani

Paolo CancianiBorn in Italy, Paolo began his studies at the Enrico Fermi Institute in the city of Gorizia. He then went on to study Journalism at Urbino University in Perugia. After immigrating to Canada, Paolo furthered his studies through part-time courses at both Ryerson University in Toronto, and Vanier College in Montreal. As a result Paolo is fluent in Italian, English, and French and has knowledge in Spanish and Portuguese. In 1972, Paolo began his Canadian broadcast in Montreal as a radio sportscaster for the multicultural station, CMFB 1410 Radio. He then moved to Toronto and became the host of a daily Italian program, Daisons Communications, which aired on City TV. However, Paolo didn't forget his Montreal roots as he founded Quebec's first Italian daily Newspaper, Il Ponte, in 1977. Paolo continued to expand his horizons when he joined the CFMT Television Network (now known as OMNI) in 1979. Over the years he hosted and directed sports programs at CFMT, and eventually moved into an executive producer position. However, Paolo answered a higher calling in 1993 when he became Executive Vice President and General Manager of Telelatino Television Network. Since then Paolo remained in the executive realm as he became editor and CEO of Les Publications Ensemble Inc. (a weekly Italian newspaper in Montreal) in 1999; Founder and Member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of Italian Canadian Savings and Credit Union in 2000; and in that same year, President and CEO of Inner Peace Television Network [The first Canadian Religion (Catholic) Television (Digital Service)]. In 2000, Paolo also joined Toronto’s multicultural station, CHIN Radio/Television International, as a news anchor and writer. Today he continues to work in CHIN’s news room and he also hosts and produces “Mandi Mandi,” a weekly magazine styled radio show and website devoted to the Friulan community of Canada. Throughout his impressive career Paolo has been involved with numerous charites and organizations such as Caritas Telethon, Natale Della Bonta, Woodbridge Santa Claus Parade, and many more. He has published works such as Almanacco Degli Italo-Canadesi, N Uocchio N Lacrema, Protagonisti Italiani del Mondo, and various other English and Italian works. Paolo also is a member of organizations such as the National Advisory Board of the PIER 21 Society, Caritas, the Italian Press Federation, and A.C.I.N.A.
